How E-Cigs Work

What are Electronic Cigarettes?

Electronic cigarettes (also called e-cigarettes, e-cigs, vapor cigarettes or smokeless cigarettes) are high-tech, non-flammable cigarettes that allow you to smoke and obtain nicotine without any exposure to tobacco or its dangerous chemicals and carcinogens. You enjoy puffs of a vaporized liquid nicotine solution and exhale simple water vapor that looks somewhat like a puff of smoke.

Electronic cigarettes don't contain tobacco or any of the other many dangerous and highly toxic chemicals and carcinogens that regular cigarettes do. Also, since e-cigs don't burn (no combustion), they don't produce any ash, tar or odor.

How Do Electronic Cigarettes Work?

Electronic cigarettes contain a small battery, an atomizer and a cartridge. When you inhale, the battery sends a small electronic charge to the atomizer, which then heats up the cartridge and vaporizes the nicotine solution inside the cartridge.

Many electronic cigarettes also have an LED light at the tip of the e-cig device. This light (also called an "ash" light) lights up and glows each time you inhale, indicating that the electronic cigarette is being inhaled. Some lights are blue, some are orange, etc. Basically, the LED light is there to mimic the look of a regular cigarette being smoked.

Why Choose Electronic Cigarettes?

• No Tar, No Carbon Monoxide, etc. - Electronic cigarettes don't contain any tar, smoke, carbon monoxide or the other dangerous chemicals and carcinogens that are found in regular tobacco cigarettes. Normal tobacco cigarettes are very harmful to your health. In fact, regular tobacco cigarettes have over 4,000 chemicals in them. This alone is a great reason to switch to an electronic cigarette.

• You'll Probably Smoke Less - When you smoke a regular tobacco cigarette you generally feel the need to finish the whole cigarette. With an electronic cigarette you can have just a few puffs and put it down. Naturally, you'll most likely find yourself smoking less. Many people report this to be the case.

• You'll Save Money - Smoking electronic cigarettes is a lot less expensive than smoking regular tobacco cigarettes. For example, 1 pack of regular tobacco cigarettes costs around $6 and up. One electronic cigarette cartridge is the equivalent to 1 pack of regular cigarettes, but costs only around $2. That's a HUGE savings.

• No Smoke and No Smoke Smell - Electronic cigarettes don't produce any actual smoke. All they produce is water vapor, so there are no pollutants going into the air when you smoke an electronic cigarette. It's definitely the "green" solution to smoking. No smoke, no smoke smell. With electronic cigarettes you can say goodbye to nasty smoke-smelling hair, clothes, etc.

• Smoke When and Wherever You Want - Electronic cigarettes allow you to get your nicotine fix pretty much wherever you are. You can smoke e-cigs in most places that don't allow regular cigarette smoking: restaurants, bars, at work, etc.

• Cheaper Health Insurance - You'll get cheaper health insurance rates since you'll no longer be considered a tobacco smoker! As soon as you receive you electronic cigarettes, be sure to call your health insurance provider and let them know that you no longer smoke. This will save you quite a bit of money.!

• No Cigarette Burns, Ashtrays or Fires - Since electronic cigarettes work via a small rechargeable battery, you won't need a cigarette lighter to smoke a cigarette. Therefore, you won't need any ashtrays either. Electronic cigarettes don't have any combustion, so you won't have to worry about cigarette burn holes in your clothes, furniture, car, etc. You also won't have to worry about accidental fires!
